All HMSA providers are evaluated on the following criteria:

  • Appropriate accreditation from a recognized accrediting body such as JCAH, CARF, COA, or AOA
  • Types of treatment settings available (Inpatient, Residential, Day Treatment, Intensive Outpatient, etc.)
  • Types of treatment programs available (Adult, Adolescent, Child; Mental Health, Substance Abuse)
  • State licensure
  • Appropriate levels of liability insurance
  • Geographic proximity to the client population
  • Handicapped accessibility
  • Employer Identification Number (EIN)
  • Participating plans/fee scale

Our providers are managed to specific quality measures of performance and client satisfaction. If a provider’s performance is found to depart from his/her peers, the provider’s clinical approach is scrutinized more closely to identify the source of the discrepancy. Providers are first put on notice of their perceived deficiencies and then monitored for compliance. In the event of any repeated incidents, the provider is swiftly removed from the network. Any provider under examination for ethical or malpractice violations is immediately put on inactive status and no further referrals are made until the situation is resolved.

HMSA does not own nor is owned by, affiliated with or controlled by any treatment provider and has no conflict of interest when making treatment referrals. Referral patterns are monitored closely and all referrals are based upon client need, provider expertise and limitations imposed by the employee’s insurance plan.
